Salome
(They/ Them)
Salome Salome embarked on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Religious Studies and Philosophy from the esteemed University of Jos, Nigeria. Having struggled with their own identity in secrecy for years, they were determined to take action: Pride of Sheba was established in 2017. This initiative emerged as a testament to their profound commitment to fostering inclusiveness and understanding. Salome’s fervent interest in Gender advocacy was ignited in 2008 during their final year in Christian Religious Studies and Philosophy. This pivotal period led them to begin unraveling the intricacies of gender roles and socialization, catalyzing their passion for change. Delving into the heart of these matters, Salome crafted their thesis titled “Ethical Analysis on Gender Inequality: A case study of the Buji people, Bassa-Plateau state." This rigorous research not only provided clarity on the standing of women within society but also critically examined prevalent doctrines. Salome’s multifaceted journey as a Corrections Officer, gender advocate, and academic scholar that underscored their unwavering commitment to affect positive change.
Salome continues to channel their dedication into their advocacy work along with the Pride of Sheba Team.
